The Final Chapter

*Back to real time*

I'm still bothered by the feelings that has been crawling up inside me, its like imagining a snake crawling between your legs then to your back. Adam's doctor came up to me and we had a very long conversation.

*Alex and The Doctors Convo*

Alex: Hey Doctor, any progress?
Doctor: Im sorry sir, but all we can do is stabilize him for now.
Alex: I see, but is there anything i can do to help?
Doctor: I'm afraid there isnt except for praying.
Alex: I will, thanks Doctor.
Doctor: No need to thank me I'm just doing my job.
Alex: Heh, youre right.
Doctor: So, I'll be going now
Alex: Alright
Doctor: Take care sir.
Alex: Doctor wait.
Doctor: Yes?
Alex: W-what if i can find a suitable heart for adam, will he be able to survive?
Doctor: Hm..That is quite possible.
Alex: I'll try what i can.

I found Jenny staring at Adam's bed, "Hey Jen" I whispered. "Hey" she replied, "Here I brought you coffee" I said while giving her the cup of coffee. "So, what did they say?" she asked. "Oh, they told me that he can survive if we can find a suitable heart for him before the day ends" i replied. "Oh, I see..I guess were too late huh" she murmured while she was trying to hold his tears back from falling. "There there, everything will be alright.." I said while trying to calm her down. I paused and said to Jenny, "I'll be back", "Okay" she replied.

*After a few minutes*

The Doctor asked Jenny to leave the room but they didnt tell her why, maybe its somehow obvious what they will do. Then after 10 hours of waiting, a doctor approached Jenny and said, "Ma'am, Adam is alright, he survived because we implanted a new stable heart for him". Jenny was shocked in awe and said , "But doctor, where did you get the heart from?". The doctor told Jenny the details of where they got the implanted heart, After a few hours, Jenny visited Adam's room and saw him in a very good shape, He looks strong but still in pain because of the operation. Adam's eyes were wide open. "Hey, how are you?" Jenny asked with tears falling on her cheeks. "I'm okay now I guess" replied Adam. "Thats good" Jenny said and then she smiled.....

Adam' s eyes were wondering and looking for something, "Honey, what are you looking for?" Jenny asked. "Have you seen Alex? I havent seen him for a long time" Adam asked. "Oh, well the thing is that he wont be here tonight". "awww..why not? I missed that little bastard" Adam laughed. Jenny started crying and she was breathing heavily, then Adam asked "why are you crying? did something happen?", "No, nothing happened" Jenny answered. "Okay then, will you tell me where Alex went?" Adam asked again. "Okay, I'll tell you" Jenny said, "Thank you" said Adam,

"Alex is in here............" Jenny said while pointing at Adam's heart. "What are you talking about?" Adam said after tears began falling from his eyes. "Alex was the one who donated his heart to you so that you would live" Jenny said. "W-why? why would he do that?" Adam asked but Jenny didnt answer. "The doctor gave me this letter, he said that Alex wanted me to give you this" said Jenny. Adam opened the letter and it said:

"Hey pal, I hope you'll get to read this, anyway, all I wanna say is goodbye....

but hey, its not like we'll be separated, I'm inside you remember? hehehe...

I really enjoyed being with my bestfriend in the whole wide world....

Adam please dont let this be in vain alright pal?....

maybe some other day we get to switch places huh? well, I hope not because I dont want to be sleeping being helpless and all that....

but I know we will see each other again soon..

so until here..goodbye Adam..."

Adam started to cry and then thats all I knew....I'm off to the clouds...maybe we really do get a chance to switch places. Everything I've learned, I've learned from love and I'm happy that I get to help someone...all I can say is..."Heaven knows what the heart needs and wants, it only takes time to reach you"

***Cliffhanger part 2*** "Alex's Story"

..................."Alex wanna come inside first? I'm sure my mom would be thrilled to meet you" Ara said. "Oh, that'll be great" I replied. "Although she would be shocked if I told her that we were going out, maybe we should take it slow first" Ara said quietly. "Oh, alrighty then" I said while smiling. We went inside quietly and suddenly I tripped, Ara laughed and said "Oh my gosh Adam, you have to change your glasses soon or else you'll end up injuring yourself". I rolled my eyes and said "Yeah, I guess you re right". Ara's Mom came and said....

Ara's Mom: I knew I heard something, thank God its only you, I thought it was a burglar or something.
Ara: Hey Mom, did you eat dinner yet?
Ara's Mom: not yet, I'm waiting for you.
Ara: Oh, is that so? well here I am.
Ara's Mom: I see you brought a friend.
Ara: Oh , meet Alex, he was the one I was telling you about.
Ara's Mom: Oh, nice to finally meet you Alex.
Alex: Nice to meet you too Ma'am'
Ara's Mom: Since you two are here you wanna eat dinner with me?
Ara: Yeah Alex, join us
Alex: Uhmm, i guess..
Ara: Okay great. Lets go!


Ara and I set up the table, her Mother cooked lasagna and meat ball spaghetti. It was very beautiful and very delightful to look at. We all sat at the table and started to eat. "So Alex, what do you think of my cooking?" Ara's Mom asked. "Oh, its great, I'm a big fan of Italian foods" I answered. "So Alex, you and Ara met at the museum huh. What a coincidence" Ara's Mom said. "Yes Ma'am', its really weird though, I thought someone as beautiful as Ara not having a boyfriend at this time" I answered and smiled at them while eating the meatball. Ara and her Mom were smiling happily while also eating their food.

Ara's Mom: So Alex, whats up with you? did you finish college?
Alex: Uh, yeah, i majored in Psychology.
Ara's Mom: Oh, thats very...uhm..interesting.
Alex: Uhm, Thanks...Oh i better get going now, its already late.
Ara's Mom: Is that so, Okay then, take care.


Ara walked me to the door and said "Uhm, take care of yourself alright?". "Of course I will, if you want to" I replied while smiling. "Of course I want to, are you stupid, I think that kiss I gave you made you lose your mind huh" Ara said. I walked to the bus stop and waited for the bus, I slept that night wondering why things are surprisingly perfect, maybe this feeling has a catch of some sort. I feel asleep at 2 am thinking about her and how we ended up together. I dreamed about her that night.


We were walking along the sidewalks at night, and then we went to a Japanese restaurant and then we ate there and talked about all sorts of things, after that we took another walk and then suddenly she dropped her purse on the streets, I came to pick it up but before i reached it, I got hit by a car.



I woke up sweating, thinking about the dream I just had, wondering what could it mean. I ate breakfast at 9 am and headed to the library to find a book. After that I called Ara.



Alex: Good morning Ara, what are you up to?
Ara: Oh Good morning Alex, well actually I'm going to find a job downtown.
Alex: is that so? well after you're done looking for one, call me okay? I'm going to show you something.
Ara: Okay, see you later then.

**Conversation ends**

**8:00 pm**
Alex: hey Ara, where are you?
Ara: I'm still at Eatons Mall, im so tired my God.
Alex: Oh, do you want me to pick you up?
Ara:Oh yes please, i'd like that.
Alex: Okay then, ill be right there soon
Ara:Okay thanks.

**After a few minutes**

Alex: hey Ara, sorry for making you wait for so long
Ara: No, its okay..im glad that you're here
Alex: oh really?
Ara: yeah..so where do you plan on going?
Alex: oh you'll see. Lets go


We both walked to a place where not too many people were. The time we got there it was already dark.

Ara: Where are we anyway?
Alex:You'll see.


We both reached a hill so high that we can see the sky so clear. I've put a blanket so we can lay there, we looked at the sky and the stars till we fell asleep and I said to Ara "Ara, if we got separated just look at the sky just think of me because we are under one sky after all".

***Cliffhanger*** "Alex's story"

I have a typical but not so happy and not so sad love life. I met this girl 3 months ago at a musuem, we bumped into each other and she slipped but i caught her at the last moment, I glanced at her eyes the moment I caught her and saw that she has an almond shaped eyes, I was a sucker for those kind of eyes back then. "are you okay?" I asked her. "Yes, thank you very much" She said. "Oh, my name is Alex by the way" I introduced myself. "my name is Ara" she said. I asked her if she wants to tour around with me and thank God she said yes. "So Ara, where's your boyfriend?" I asked her. "Oh, I dont have a boyfriend right now..I cant find the right one" She said. "Oh, dont worry you'll find him someday" I answered."Oh, wanna have coffee with me? or are you going somewhere?" I asked her. "Oh, that'll be nice..sure I'll have coffee with you" she answered. We went to the nearest Tim Hortons place near the museum. We sat there for almost an hour talking about ourselves and other things.

Night finally came and she said "aww, its already late, I have to go". "Oh, thats too bad..alrighty then, do you have a ride?" i answered. "No, actually I dont" she said. "Oh, where do you live anyway? " i asked. "Oh, just 5 minutes from here" she answered. "Oh, in that case..do you mind if I walk you home? its dangerous for a girl like you to walk alone during night" i said. "I dont mind, actually thats very sweet of you" she answered. So, I walked her to her house. "So, were finally here..so are you gonna be okay here?" I said. "Yep, thank you for walking me home..and uh..nice to meet you Alex" she said with a smile. "yeah..nice to meet you too..oh wait..do you mind giving me your phone number? just in case you wanna go hang out or whatever?" i asked. "Oh, that'll be great...here *she handed a paper with her number*" she said. "so..I'll call you..goodnight" i said.

I walked to the bus stop and I cant stop smiling, When I arrived at my apartment I went to bed quickly. When morning came I called Ara..

*On Phone*

Alex: Hey Ara, its me Alex.
Ara: Oh hi, I never expected that you would call me this quick.
Alex: hehe..so do you have any plans tonight?
Ara: No, why? do you have something in mind?
Alex: Actually I do
Ara: Okay then, where to?
Alex: Okay uhm..meet me at Thomson park at 2 pm. is that okay?
Ara: Oh, that'll be nice..I cant wait..see you then.
Alex: Okay then...bye..

*Call Ended*

**1:30 pm**

I was sitting at the bench waiting for Ara to arrive, after 30 minutes or so she arrived. I was shocked when I saw her. She was walking with her hair swaying left and right, and she was wearing a white shirt and a beautiful pants and her beautiful-almond-shaped-eyes were glimmering. "Hey, how long have you been waiting?" she asked. "oh, its okay..the important thing is that you re here" I answered.

**while walking**

Alex: Wow you look so beautiful.
Ara: Why thank you, So what are you planning to do?
Alex: Well, come and see.

We went to a bike renting place and rented two bicycles. "So, you know how to ride this thing?" I said while smiling. "HAH! of course, I'm not five you know" she answered. We raced down the road, We stopped to rest underneath a tall tree.

Ara: So, are you really this kind?haha.
Alex: Well, apparently yeah.
Ara: Really? there's no doubt alot of girls will like you.
Alex: Haha..well thanks I guess.
Ara: Wow I cant believe its already 4 pm
Alex: Really? gosh, time flies by when you're having so much fun eh?
Ara: yeah.
Alex: Okay then, Lets go back, I'm going to show you something.
Ara: Okay.

We ran to a building and went at the rooftop. "Where are you taking me? she asked. "Just come and see, I think you'll like it". I answered. When we arrived at the rooftop, I showed her a spot where we could see a forest and a lake. "So, what do you think?" i asked her while smiling. "Its really really nice in here, can you take me here everytime I feel like going here?" she asked. "Uhmm..sure why not?" I answered. Then she looked at me and smiled.

*7 pm..While walking*

Alex: So, did you have fun? I had my best day of the week actually.
Ara: Yeah, of course I had fun, youre quite something.
Alex: You think so? Thank you.
Ara: This is the best date I've ever been to.

...My eyes widened and said..

Alex: Date?
Ara: Yeah, Date.
Alex: Okay, that's great....so want me to walk you home now?
Ara: Yeah, I think you should..

*We arrived at Ara's house*

Alex: So, uh..were here again...hehe.
Ara: Yes we are...
Alex: duh..hehe..
Ara: I really had a great time Alex.
Alex: Yeah, me too...So uh..I guess this is goodnight?
Ara: Yeah, good night Alex.

I held her hand and said "I hope that I'll see you soon". "Of course you will" she answered. Then I kissed her on the cheeks and she said "Alex? What are you doing? are you really that blind?". "I'm sorry? I'm not pretty sure what you mean" I answered. "those are my cheeks.....and these are my lips" She answered and kissed me...............

When Destiny Moves along Our Path (Part 4)

...When morning came ,I still feel unaware of whats happening around me. I said to myself "maybe this is the outcome on everything that happened, maybe this is the debt that i should pay". I quickly ran to Adam's room and the first person I saw was Jen. I approached her and asked "did you get enough sleep?". Jen answered me "No, the pain keeps haunting me in my sleep, I'm afraid that I would dream about something that i couldn't take, something I couldn't bare, something that would keep my consciousness from the inside and keep me locked up". I sighed and said "Dreams are only projectors on what you're thinking, it only shows us that our minds can replay thoughts that we are thinking of." I suddenly saw tears falling from Jenny's eyes, I looked at Adam and saw the unchanged expression on his face. I can feel a rush in my veins..
and then suddenly...we heard a loud "thud"

We saw Adam quivering rapidly, I widened my eyes and reached for the emergency button, I pushed it and called for help over and over and over again. I quickly ran outside and into the hallway hearing only Jenny's voice shouting "ADAM! ADAM!". I talked to a nurse and a couple of doctors and asked them to go to Adam's room but all of them were busy, luckily I found a doctor that could help, we ran to Adam's room, we saw Adam's mouth overflowing with blood and I saw Jenny frightened to death.

After a few hours of waiting, a doctor approached us and I asked what happened to Adam. The doctor answered "his heart wont be able to take it, something went wrong with our procedure", I answered "What are you trying to say doctor?..YOU MESSED UP? how did this happen?". The doctor answered "I'm trying to say that he needs to have a heart transplant within ten days or else he'll die". I was shocked and said "What?!?..its not gonna be that hard right? i mean you have lots of donors right?". The doctor sighed and said "I'm sorry, but our donors stopped donating last week". I quickly turned to Jenny but she wasn't there. I looked everywhere for her but I didn't find her, I decided to go to the rooftop to get fresh air but when I got there I was surprised that Jenny was there. I slowly walked towards her and saw her crying again..

I told her "I know what you're thinking, you're telling God that you hate him right now. but you shouldn't hate him. he's the one that helps us to get through everything that hinders us from going through this maze that we're currently in."

She just hugged me and said "Thank you, Alex".....

When Destiny Moves along Our Path (Part 3)

...Adam left quickly after our overwhelming conversation, when night came i went for a walk and found Adam walking at the sidewalk, but he was with someone, so i took a closer look and saw Jenny. I cannot believe Adam already found Jen in such a short time, so i just smiled and turned away but i suddenly heard a shriek from behind and saw them being violated by a few masked men, I saw Adam trying to fight off the masked men then i suddenly heard a loud "bang", it took me a few seconds to realize what had happened, I shouted "Adam!!" and quickly ran to help them, but before i got there the men already ran and I just saw Jenny crying and then tears started to fall down my face and shouted for help but no one was there so i kept on shouting until a car stopped behind us and helped us, the time we arrived at the hospital I was completely covered with blood and Adam was sent to the Emergency Room and I sat at the waiting room and found Jenny crying, so I sat beside her and said "Everything is gonna be fine, lets have faith", and she said "yeah i guess you're right, a person who has hope has everything huh". I just smiled again and said "yeah i guess that's one way to put it".
After a few hours, I fell asleep and then a doctor woke me up and said "Sir your friend has severe wounds but we did what we can, and thank God he's okay". i smiled and said " Oh God thank you so much doctor." I tried to wake Jenny up but she's sleeping soundly so i just whispered "he's okay". The moment i said that ,she woke up and then she ran to the room so I followed her, when I got there i saw Jenny kneeling to Adam's bed crying and the doctor said to me "I forgot to tell you, your friend suffered a very serious injury and resulted into a very complex mental state..if you want me to put it in a less complicated term, he's in a coma , a bullet hit a nerve and accidentally altered the function of another nerve...we're very sorry..I promise you we'll take good care of your friend".

I walked slowly to Jenny and put my hand around her and said "Lets have faith, maybe God really is testing the love you guys have...maybe someday his love will find its way to you, then you'll realize that love is just another way of showing something that people normally cannot express".......

When Destiny Moves along Our Path (Part 2)

...After a short period of time they met, Adam already fell in love with her. Although I'm not surprised, I still find it weird that Adam doesn't call me about this, for the past 7 years i was his first call but i guess everything doesn't stay the same forever. And then i found out that Jenny will be moving to New York after a couple of weeks. I called Adam but no one was answering except for the machine. I went outside for a walk and started looking for him again. I was searching for him for almost an hour now and then i remembered the place where we usually meet, so i went to the old basketball court and I saw him there smoking, I approached him and said "Hey, you alright man? don't worry if you really are meant together, your paths will intersect and there will be nothing, i mean nothing in the world that could stop it".

Adam replied in a shouting and shaking voice "What if we're not? W-what if I'm like a world away from her? i don't believe in fate, We can change our destiny the way we want it, only we can undo what we've done, we write our own lives..i cant just let your so called destiny bring me to her. I'm gonna look for her even if it kills me". Adam ran away and I didn't follow him, I just sat there staring at the sunset and smiled and said to myself "Maybe he's right, Maybe there's no such thing as Fate, Maybe we're all supposed to write our own destiny."
When i quickly came to myself I ran and went to Adam's apartment and I saw him packing his things and said "So you really are going huh. Do you mind if your bestfriend comes?". Adam smiled and threw his towel at me and said "What are you still doing here then? Go to your apartment and pack, meet me at the place where we usually meet."

We arrived at the airport and ran quickly to the ticket booth, when we got to the plane we slept until we arrived at New York. We checked-in at a fancy hotel and slept for awhile. When I woke up Adam was gone. I tried to call his cellphone but he was'nt answering. I went outside again and looked for him but i wasn't able to find him. When I got back to the hotel I saw some people pointing at the top of the hotel and I saw a man at the edge so I quickly ran to the rooftop and I saw Adam there crying. And I asked him "Adam what are you trying to do? what you're trying to do wont do you anything good, it wont solve anything, whatever it is you must face it!".

Adam stepped back and sat at the floor and cried. I slowly approached him and placed my hand on his shoulder and I whispered to him "Adam, dont worry im just here to feel a quick breeze, did you know that life isn't about the amounts of breaths you take, its about the moments that made your life worth living."
We returned to our hotel room again and slept. The next morning I saw Adam at the balcony drinking coffee so I approached him and asked "so its a new day huh?".He answered "yeah, this day brought me another hope." And then I asked him again "So what are you gonna do now?" Then he answered "I'm gonna look for her,even if it takes a year or even a decade". That's when i knew that he's really in love with Jenny but i still cant believe that something prevented me from seeing. I guess this is what they meant by "seeing is barely believing, you have to make the person see to make the person believe".

When Destiny Moves Along Our Path (part 1)

"Please God..Please God..please don't let me suffer..i cannot help but avoid the fear of being left alone"..These are the lines that my good friend Adam always say to God. Here I start to write about his love story and how it became a very colourful one. Me and Adam used to go to this little beat up basketball court when we were kids, Adam and I are best friends since we were young. We always keep on telling each other that no matter what happens, when one gets lost we will always meet here in this basketball court. I always catch him here crying and looking undoubtedly weak. Now that we're 24 we barely get to see each other because of our own lives and our own jobs that we have to run and do. But we still have connections and all, and then one day he called and asked me to go to the old court that we used to go to, when I got there and saw Adam sitting near the pond just outside the court. We decided to go to a bar and get a drink since we're already old enough to go there. We sat near the counter and we each ordered a drink and he asked me "So whats been goin' on with you?" with a very wide smile. I answered "Well work is good, everything is good i guess" and then i muttered that i needed to go to the bathroom. So I left him for awhile and ran to the bathroom. When I got back Adam was gone and the bartender told me that the he already paid the drink and told me that he went outside. So I ran to the door and started to look for Adam. After a few minutes of searching I decided to call a cab, but when the cab came i saw someone on the bridge assuming that it was Adam since he's the most dramatic and the worst "I wanna be alone" type of a guy I've ever met. I looked curiously, but Adam isn't alone he was with a girl. Then I slowly walked while scratching my head and smiling. after I approached them Adam introduced me to this girl he met. Her name was Jenny. Jenny was a very beautiful and nice girl. After 3 months Adam told me that he's in love with Jenny, And then I just smiled and told him "Love is like a trap, when it appears, you can only see its light and not its shadows, you have to make sure about that". He told me "Don't worry, I'm sure about this and it wont end up as bad as we always think it would. And that's where it all started....................
